Club War Birds Day – Held on 7th November 2021

Well, not a washout, more of a blowout.  Sadly, the forecast was accurate with sunny spells, wind down the patch…. but unfortunately at 15 mph.  So, there were a few brave souls flying: several gliders, a large P47, a Sea Fury, a couple of Vampires, an Olympus and a number of smaller aircraft. No accidents or entertaining moments.

Hardy members braced against the wind

Turnout was respectable with 24 pilots and observers and 30 different aircraft.  See the photograph of the planes laid out in a display.  Very welcome in the coolish stiff breeze was Chak’s BBQ and the heat from his fire drum.

Most of the models stayed n the ground – very wise!

There are unlikely to be further formal events this year and so planning will turn to 2022.  If anyone has ideas for an event they would like to see at the club do let me know.

Mike Oates.

Electric Fly-in  took place on Sunday 17th October.

This event has now taken place – please see the dedicated page ‘2021 Electric Fly-in”

This event is now confirmed for Sunday 17th October. We look forward to welcoming many visitors and having an enjoyable day. (Updated Friday 15th October at 7:20pm)

This event is open to all, subject to evidence of insurance.

Our annual Electric Fly-in is back after last year’s Covid break.

Come along to our excellent flying site and meet up with other flyers from local clubs and around the country. There is no entry fee and there will be free burgers and hot drinks to keep you fuelled up during the day. The grass strip is large and smooth enough for retracts, so bring those special models along to show off. Recent events have seen some stunning models and impressive electric set-ups, so it should be a great opportunity to view and discuss all things electric.

Pilots must have evidence of Insurance and, ideally, an A-cert or greater. (Don’t forget your operator ID on the model.) Those without an A cert will be allowed to fly, but under supervision.

Pilot briefing will be at 10:00 with flying all day until prize-giving at about 4:30. There will be prizes for best model and ‘Interesting Moments’ and there will also be a raffle.

See the ‘Field’ page on this website for a map.

Club Fun-Day – planned for 26th September and then for 3rd October  – had to be postponed and then cancelled due to persistent poor weather. Better luck next year!
